Course runs August – May
This year, the French 1 class is a hybrid class, which means that the self-paced course which will be assigned 2 other times per week for the student to watch independently. The live class portion will be focused on speaking practice.
This class is for high school credit. It is a beginner class but goes at a slightly faster pace than the younger class because it requires more written work and involves more consideration of grammar. There is a balanced development of all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Each week consists of:
- Poetry
- Songs
- Picture Study
- Reading French novels
- Reading French biographies
- Narrations done in French
- Current events in French
- Grammar in context of stories (Siepmann Primary French book)
- Discussion/conversation in French about our daily lives and weekend activities
The feast doesn’t end just because we are earning a transcript credit!
